It’s been a summer full of new music. We got projects from Tyler, Sault, Hiatus Kaiyote, Charlotte Day Wilson, Cleo Sol, and more – so I’ve been busy these days. Out of all this, the album I want to highlight was graced to us by Snoh Aalegra.
‘TEMPORARY HIGHS IN THE VIOLET SKIES’ came out early July, it was highly anticipated especially after the poetic DYING 4 YOUR LOVE and LOST YOU singles dropped. I remember earlier this year I was on Instagram and saw a post Snoh made that pictured her and Pharrell Williams in the studio, and that was something I never knew I needed. That post alone made me even more excited for the project. After listening to it, I instantly knew which song Pharrell was involved in within the first five seconds. That classic Neptunes sound. IN YOUR EYES, track number three.
To me, this feels and sounds like the most vulnerable out of all her work. I really gravitate towards the experimentation of the production within this album. There are a lot of different sounds, harmonies and tones of voices that you’ll come across throughout the listen all while still flowing beautifully together track by track. Snoh Aalegra never fails to make me feel all the feels again.
Tracks I still have on repeat and sing my heart out to: TASTE, ON MY MIND, and SAVE YOURSELF. (the whole album if we're being real)
